Welcome.

My name is Shelby Olyschlager, that oh-lee-shh-lager (you’re welcome) and this is my very own website.

Through out my whole twenty-four years, I have become the product of trial and error. I barrel race and have been mostly self taught but this goes farther then just that. The trial and error of life and I’m here to talk about what is good! Sometimes its not all unicorns and rainbows but this is life and a wise man once said “as long as you’re learning, you’re not failing”, Thanks Bob Ross!

I have a few stories to share. One recent and very interesting experience was me and that cute little palomino mare above traveling for FOUR months in the USA with no truck or trailer. Let me tell you, you cannot hitchhike with a futurity barrel horse very well. I survived my internships at a few different locations and with that, you bet, some serious trial and error; but oh boy I learned things.

How I managed to live out of a suitcase and one bag of horse equipment was quite a challenge I wasn’t really expecting. Then again, I can be naive and optimism gets in the way of seeing things for what they are. Spoiler, things can really suck!

If my roller coaster ride of interning at barrel training facilities spark an interest, you can ask nicely to receive that whole story, the learning and all. I made some mistakes, I learned and I would love to share those stories so maybe you can learn from my misfortunes.
